I lay inside myself
at the bottom of my stomach.
Only the echos of my past
to keep my company.
I hate the hate I give
like gifts of poison and pain.
Daylight is not my friend,
light shows the scars of time.
And we all know who time is,
not the healer he claims to be.
But a bitter tortured old man,
trying to bend and break me.
I melt into the wall behind you,
then no one can see through me.
There I whither and decay,
I can watch it all happen.
You always see it coming eventually.
Sometimes it is just too late.
I see what it does to you,
but I am not in awe of your distance.
I play with my mind a bit,
toss it around like a rubber ball.
Mix it up so that memories fade,
become jumbled, then discarded.
I guess I will close my eyes now.
There is nothing else I can do.
I don't want to stay in here forever,
but I have no choice this time.
But I have won this one old man,
you put no limit on MY forever.
